Project 02
Brown China Summit (BCS) is a non-partisan platform at Brown University dedicated to fostering thoughtful, cross-disciplinary dialogue about China and its global role.
As Head of Marketing & Design, I shaped the summit’s brand from end to end, building a cohesive system across digital, print, and event touchpoints. The work supported a 400+ attendee summit, brought together 10+ Brown University departments and 30+ student organizations, and contributed to a 200% increase in Instagram engagement.
Through the concept of “Forward Focus,” Brown China Summit 2024 explores progress, connection, and the possibilities of an emerging future. Hosted by the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs at Brown University, the summit brings together influential voices across international relations, Southeast Asian opportunities, artificial intelligence, sustainability, culture, and success, creating a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and new perspectives on global development.
The key visual translates this forward-looking spirit into a cityscape inspired by Shanghai’s signature skyline, using its recognizable urban identity as a symbol of growth, ambition, and global connection. Surrounding the skyline, evolving two-dimensional architectural forms suggest continuous construction and transformation, expressing a future shaped by innovation and emergence. The transition from familiar landmarks to more abstract structures reflects the intersection of established identity and new possibility, reinforcing “Forward Focus” as both the summit’s theme and a visual expression of ideas, perspectives, and futures continually taking shape.
